Even in poor visibility during the unforgettable Beast from the East of 2018, it was still possible to make out these famous Whitby landmarks against the blanket of snow. The distinctive silhouette of the 199 Steps rising towards St Mary's Church and the elegant curve of the Whalebones stood proudly above the icy coastline, creating dramatic focal points that made for some truly remarkable photographs. The low winter sun added warmth to the frozen landscape, causing every snowflake to sparkle like tiny diamonds across the town.

Holly bushes looked as though they had been dusted with icing sugar, frozen pools resembled sheets of cracked glass and every rooftop, wall and pathway became part of a breathtaking winter scene unlike anything normally experienced on the Yorkshire Coast.
