Around the summer solstice, the view from Penny Nab offers one of my favourite opportunities to photograph Staithes. The village lies below, the piers reach out into the sea and the setting sun can become part of the coastal view beyond.
On the right evening, colour spreads across the sky and light catches the water, bringing the whole scene together. The cottages, harbour and distant horizon give these summer sunset photographs a wonderful sense of depth.
