Every photograph sold by The North Yorkshire Gallery is taken by Laurie Smithies, a Yorkshire landscape photographer and co-owner of the gallery. For nearly two decades, Laurie has spent countless early mornings, late evenings and challenging weather conditions photographing Whitby, the Yorkshire Coast, the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and many of Britains most spectacular landscapes.

Whenever possible, we can also arrange for customers to view a particular photograph or product before purchasing, even if it is not currently on display in the gallery.

Timing is everything. Laurie has spent years returning to the same locations in search of exceptional light and unusual conditions, with many photographs captured at sunrise or sunset when the landscape is at its most colourful and dramatic. Over the years he has also photographed Yorkshire during spectacular snowfalls, sea fog, colourful sunsets and displays of the Aurora Borealis.

Yes. We produce and fulfil many of our products ourselves, allowing us to maintain complete quality control from the original photograph through to the finished product. Many items are made to order, enabling us to offer a wide choice of sizes, framing options and product formats.

As many of our products are individually made to order, we generally recommend allowing up to 10 working days for delivery. Smaller gift items are often ready sooner, while larger products such as canvas prints and framed prints may take a little longer.
