Scattered amongst rolling heather moorland, peaceful river valleys, ancient woodland and some of Yorkshire's most spectacular scenery, the North York Moors villages are places that seem almost untouched by time. Stone cottages line quiet village streets, streams meander beneath picturesque bridges, steam trains pass through the valleys, and around every corner there's another breathtaking view waiting to be discovered. Every village has its own unique character, but together they capture everything that makes the North York Moors National Park one of the most beautiful places in Britain.

For me, these villages are far more than just places to photograph. They were the backdrop to much of my childhood. I have wonderful memories of paddling in the beck at Hutton-le-Hole, exploring around Danby and spending countless days discovering the moors, woods and valleys that surround these incredible villages. Those early experiences gave me a lifelong appreciation of the North York Moors and inspired the passion for landscape photography that I still enjoy today.

Over the years, I've returned time and again with my camera, photographing these villages in every season and under every type of weather, from colourful spring mornings and vibrant summer evenings to misty autumn sunrises and snow-covered winter landscapes. Every visit reveals something different, and that's one of the reasons I never tire of coming back.
