January 2023
This is a beautiful image of Whitby Harbour and a red sunrise. The streetlights are just beginning to turn on, and the sky is bright red. The red glow is also reflected in the River Esk. This is a typical January scene on the coast, with lovely snowy hill tops of The North York Moors in the background.
Febuary 2023
February is a month that typically conjures up images of cold, dark days. However, this calendar picture shows that there can also be beauty in the bleakness of winter. The Khyber Pass is illuminated by the street lights, creating a warm and inviting scene. Beyond the darkness falls over the Whitby Piers, but the last of the Sun light is still visible on the horizon. This cool, crisp picture captures the mood of February perfectly and reminds us that there is always something to appreciate, no matter what the season.
March 2023
The calendar picture for March is a lovely sunrise over the North Sea. The first rays of light are just starting to land on the Tate Hill Beach and the famous Whitby Abbey and church of St Mary are illuminated against the morning sky. It is a beautiful, calm morning with barely a ripple on the River Esk. The beautiful warm glow begins to fill the sky and, typical of a March morning, we begin to feel a little bit warmer after a cold winter.
April 2023
April’s calendar picture is a fantastic black-and-white image that captures a storm event coming to ground on the Yorkshire coast looking from Sandsend Beach towards Whitby as angry waves smash ashore illuminated by the rays of light. In the distance of the picture or me Whitby Abbey can be made out standing on the hilltop looking over the rough sea. The image is truly awe-inspiring. It’s definitely one of my favorite photographs from the collection.
May 2023
May is a month of beautiful sunsets, and this one from this location is no exception. The famous 199 Steps leading down to the harbour are illuminated by the setting sun, creating a stunning contrast with the dark water. The colours in the sky are simply incredible, and the whole scene is one of peace and tranquility. It’s no wonder that this is one of the most popular photography locations in the UK.

The photograph for June is a stunning sunrise from Whitby’s West Cliff. The view is through the whalebone arch, with the famous Whitby Abbey silhouetted against the beautiful sunrise. The colors in the sky are like fire, and the whole scene is absolutely breathtaking.

It was a wonderful, tranquil evening in Whitby, typical of the summer months, with all the boats in the harbour and people finding their way into the restaurants. The colours in the sky were amazing, and it was a great opportunity to capture the mood of the town. I’m sure that anyone who sees this picture will be able to imagine themselves there, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of a summer evening in Whitby.

The image for September is another lovely calming photo taken from the promenade at Whitby as the sunsets over the sea and the last rays of light are reflecting off the colourful Whitby beach huts which are facing out to see. The colours in the sky are just lovely and it’s a really tranquil scene. I’m sure that looking at this image will help to calm anyone who is feeling frazzled after a busy summer. October is definitely one of the best months to visit the Yorkshire Coast. The weather is usually mild, and the autumn colours are simply stunning. The rays of light bring out the autumn colours in the trees, and the view from Lythe bank to Whitby is simply breathtaking.
