Yorkshire Coast Photography Questions

Which Yorkshire Coast locations can I find in your galleries?

Our coastal galleries cover Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay, Saltburn, Scarborough, Redcar and Marske, Skinningrove, Runswick Bay, Sandsend and Flamborough. The Skinningrove collection also includes photographs around Hummersea and Boulby Cliffs. Browse the gallery boxes or use the map to find the places that mean something to you.

Can you see both sunrise and sunset over the sea on the Yorkshire Coast?

Yes—from suitable viewpoints at certain times of year. Although this is England’s east coast, the shoreline curves and some views face north. Around midsummer, the sun rises towards the northeast and sets towards the northwest, allowing places such as Whitby to offer views of both over the sea. The exact view depends on the season, your position and the surrounding headlands.

Do you have Yorkshire Coast sunrise and sunset photographs?

Yes. Our collections include sunrise and sunset photographs from Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay, Saltburn and other locations along the coast. Some show the sun near the horizon, while others capture the colours and light across the village, cliffs or beach. Browse each gallery to find the atmosphere and view you prefer.

Do you have photographs of the Yorkshire Coast in the snow?

Yes. Our Whitby, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay galleries include snow photographs, with familiar streets, rooftops and coastal views transformed by winter weather. These collections offer a different perspective on places often associated with summer holidays.

Can I buy photographs of the Northern Lights at Saltburn?

Yes. Our Saltburn collection includes photographs of the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis, above the coast. Open your chosen photograph to see the print types and sizes available.

Which print types are available?

Our Yorkshire Coast photographs are available in a range of finishes, including photographic prints, mounted prints, framed photographs, canvases and floating framed canvases. Available sizes and finishes are shown beneath each photograph, so you can choose an option to suit your room.

Who takes the photographs and makes the prints?

Every photograph in our collection is taken by Laurie Smithies. Our family-run business produces prints and wall art in Yorkshire, with Laurie and Jemma overseeing the photography and production. You can also visit The North Yorkshire Gallery on Church Street in Whitby to browse in person.

How do I order, and is UK delivery included?
